“Mixtapes” are released every month here that are compiled from all sorts of locations and generally consist of tracks released for free by the bands or labels themselves. The primary resources are IRP and BIRP (every one of you need to get familiar with them!), Chicago Mixtape, SoundCloud, BandCamp, MySpace, Last FM, NoiseTrade, Musigh, Blue Sky & Hard Rock, Paste, Black Vinyl, Indie Rock Cafe, Community Playlist, email newsletters like Kitsune, Facebook band pages, band and record label submissions, and any other source of free indie material. Many bands/artists send their music here directly and if it sounds good you’ll hear it on a playlist. If you have a track you think should be featured on an upcoming playlist you can email us the mp3 to TheIndiePlaylists@Gmail.com.
Each playlist is carefully compiled to include only the best handpicked indie tracks put together to play in order like an album. They’re usually between 20 and 35 tracks long which makes them fast to download and easy to listen to every month. These playlists are not about song quantity but song quality.
Many tracks submitted will not make it onto a playlist here but I encourage EVERYONE to submit their mp3’s to us for consideration just the same. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL TRACKS HAVE SONG TITLE AND ARTIST NAME!
